Bad doctrine…

Children…believe the story of Santa without question. They do not reason that, “Well, does he need a passport?”, “How does he know where all the kids in the jungle are?”, “How does he carry a toy for every kid in a sleigh?” No…all of the 100 questions you could ask yourself which disprove or call into question the the suggestion that a man flies around in 8 hours and delivers a toy (a requested toy) to each girl and boy on the planet one night out of the year do not enter into a child’s mind. They just “believe” the “unbelievable”.

And, so it is with Church doctrine. If we were to think and reason “like adults” then so much Church doctrine would be seen the same way we see the idea of Santa Claus – preposterous!

Let’s look at the modern church…for the most part Church people believe:
We’re born sinners
Jesus was born of a virgin so as to not receive the “sinful nature”
Jesus came to save us from our “sin nature”
Jesus didn’t get a “sin nature” from Joseph and therefore was not able to sin
“God is in control”
Jesus knew from the foundation of the world all the future including who was going to be saved

All of those things…if you think like an adult enter into the same genre as Santa because they do not make sense.

Truth is that…
We’re all born perfect…
Jesus was born of a virgin ’cause it all has to do with “authority”…and Jesus’s father (head) was not a man but it was God…
Jesus was born with the same flesh as you and I (the Bible says so unless you use an NIV) and resisted sin despite intense temptation! He was tempted just as are you and I (the Bible says so) but He resisted!
Jesus was tempted when He was totally WEAK…He’d not eaten for 40 days…He was exhausted…He was ALONE! And, Satan offered Jesus the opportunity to skip the cross (pain) and instead take the easy way out. Satan…who was handed the authority over the world by Adam…offered all the kingdoms of the world to Jesus…Jesus did not argue and say, “But, you can’t do that ’cause God is in control”…no…Jesus understood that all authority on earth had been given to Adam when he was created and Adam transferred it to satan when he sinned…
And…Jesus went to the cross and suffered like that not even knowing if anyone was going to care! THAT is how much HE LOVES US!

Those other doctrines demonstrate that “the Church” does not understand “authority”…or “sin”…

The angel told Mary that Jesus would come to save His people not from “their sin” (as in their sinful nature) but from their SINS…Because it is our sins which make us sinners…

All the popular modern doctrines rob Jesus of all His virtue! (Definition: the quality or practice of moral excellence or righteousness)

The popular modern way of thinking says if you think about it even a little bit:
We’re born sinners…so we are bound to sin and it’s unavoidable and pretty much expected and part of human life and in some sense we’re not accountable for it since we’re born that way…
Jesus was born of a virgin so as to not receive the “sinful nature”…so the fact that He didn’t sin is not such a big deal ’cause He had an advantage…He wasn’t REALLY just like us just mostly…and really for Him to not sin doesn’t mean much ’cause He “couldn’t”…no biggie!
Jesus came to save us from our “sin nature”…not to save us from our sins…and so when Paul said, “I was saved, I am being saved, and I will be saved” that really makes no sense…
Jesus didn’t get a “sin nature” from Joseph and therefore was not able to sin…so no biggie that Jesus didn’t sin! He couldn’t!
“God is in control”…so all the bad things that happen in the world are somehow from Him and we end up blaming Him for sin and tragedy and use the Lord’s name in vain by praising Him for His “plan”…
Jesus knew from the foundation of the world all the future including who was going to be saved…and since “if you love those who love you what credit is it to you ’cause even sinners do the same”…then big deal that Jesus suffered for those whom He KNEW were going to be saved! BIG DEAL!

Sounds to me like “the Church” needs to stop thinking like children…

1 Corinthians 14:20
Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.

We need to stop presenting this mixed up half-sadistic God to the world…
We need to stop insulting God by believing that He’s in control of this mess!
We need to stop insulting God by believing that He had some advantage over sin that we don’t!
We need to stop believing that we “can’t help” but sin! We CAN help but sin!

We need to be mature in our thinking…and stop believing what we were taught just because that’s “what we’ve always believed”…

GOD LEFT IT OUT!!!

When Adam n’ Eve sinned…God then proceeded to inform them about all the things in the world that would now be different…He said that the ground was cursed…that they’d have to work hard…that Eve’d have pain in childbirth…that Eve’s desire would be for her husband and that he would rule over her…but you know what He didn’t mention? He didn’t mention anything about mankind now being born sinful…or with a sinful nature…no…and you know, that’s kinda’ big I think He woulda’ mentioned that, don’t you???

He mentions what would now be the new reality for men, women, children, and nature…He did list them all…and He does not mention anything about, “Hey, your kids are going to be FLAMING brats ’cause they are gonna be born with a TENDENCY to sin now…”

He had his chance…and this would have been ONE BIG CHANGE worth mentioning…don’t ya think??

I think God didn’t mention it ’cause it didn’t happen.

He cursed the ground…not us…

QUESTION FROM A FRIEND: “Why do we sin so naturally?”

I don’t think we do really sin so naturally.

I think kids are “taught” to behave selfishly for one thing by moms who are too busy to respond to their children like we’re SUPPOSED to…Moms who are glued to their computers or strapped for time ’cause they have to get to work or moms who just don’t feel like dealing with the kid right now…I believe we TEACH the kids to put themselves 1st by example. And, kids suffer from not enough responsive attention from mom n’ dad so they not only have new brains which lack reasoning ability but they have not been properly taught to begin to reason well…

Say you have a 6 month who has just begun to move around. All of their activities represent pure curiosity and fascination with the world they’re discovering. They can’t comprehend cause and effect…they can’t comprehend that mom feels pressure to not have the neighbor show up unannounced and see a mess on the floor…the kid can’t comprehend that mom is tired, or that that is expensive bone china which can break and cost mom money besides ruining her perfect set! etc…All the kid can do is explore! When a 6 month old drops his spoon over and over and over and mom says NO it’s still a game. Baby is learning cause and effect. He does an action and mom reacts. It’s actually a natural process that’s good and not sin or against our design.

Then, when you get into age 2…they’ve got very busy active brains which have learned to desire and like things, but, they lack a braking mechanism, they have no fear, and still do not have good reasoning skills. When a 2 year old is “disobedient” I believe it’s a lack of reasoning; parents who are expecting the kids to be able to “think” much older than their ability; and kids who have anger and frustration issues from being “Ezzo’ed”. I don’t believe a 2 year old understands “right” and “wrong”. I believe they understand that “X” makes mom angry…but does not get “right” and “wrong”…And, I believe that often disobedient kids are taught that by mom n’ dad being inconsistent not always saying what they mean.

Even kids who are “sneaky” and do stuff…they still do not distinguish “right” and “wrong” just they know what will get them in trouble and what won’t…what displeases mom n’ dad and what doesn’t…and not what is morally “right” and “wrong”…

I see stuff all the time…(and I have done the same thing but without thinking this is the kids’ fault) parents are out somewhere and say, “OK son let’s go!” and then they do what? They don’t leave. They stand and talk for another 10 minutes. Then they feel like leaving again and say, “OK son let’s go!”  THEN…do they leave? NO! They stand there and talk another 10 minutes. Now, what’s the little kid to do? Stand there bored out of his mind when his parents are chattering away about the stock market and how hard it is to clean carpeting? Whatever! “I see something to play with! My parents don’t MEAN they want to leave!” and off the kid will go! SO…THEN when the parents REALLY decide to leave…the kid will be in some sense, in “Yeah right” mode and resist leaving. He’ll resist responding when his parents have already “cried wolf” how many times now. The parents will become agitated and embarrassed that their kid is so “disobedient” and “naughty” and I can guarantee ya that the parents, though they were TOTALLY at fault, they would likely argue vehemently that the kid had a sin nature and that’s why he acts like that…

The same goes for “Ezzo’ed” babies. Babies who are “sleep trained” are trained by their parents control and lack of responsiveness to their cues to then be unresponsive to others’ cues. I have seen it over and over. MOST of the children whom I will address who will completely ignore me…are sleep trained kids. They live what they learn.

I believe that we don’t see kids ACTUALLY comprehending “right” and “wrong” till they hit 12-14…then something changes.

And, I think we all agree on that because you don’t let a 5 year old babysit your baby…you don’t even let at 7 or 8 or 9 year old babysit for you ’cause they lack reasoning ability. We know they’re not “capable” of making good decisions. We know that.

That’s why there’s no instructions to evangelize babies or children…they don’t NEED evangelizing…they’re not drowning yet so they don’t need a life ring or to be saved…

But, in Jewish law a person was considered an adult at 12-14 years old…and all instruction for evangelism is toward “adults”.

And Isaiah says Jesus would come to an age when He’d know how to choose right and refuse evil…so if even He did…and He had the same flesh as us (unless you read an NIV which has changed it but the original Greek and reliable translations translate it as “flesh” in all cases for us and for Jesus)…and was tempted in all things just as we are…then…it seems that it’s impossible for children to “sin” if they do not have the ability to reason “right” from “wrong”…
And, why should this be an offensive thing to think a child does not “need saving”? The angels who didn’t fall don’t need saved, either?

I think we think it’s “natural” to do wrong ’cause it appears to happen so easily, but, kids react to their environment and reflect the atmosphere in their home. If they have stress in the family they “act up” but that’s not “sin”. If they’ve been taught to not respond to others, they will ignore their parents commands.

And, I do not believe we “sin naturally”…I don’t think we do…we hesitate…we think…we worry…we feel guilt…

A 13 year old sneaking out to go to a party has to tremble and think about it a lot and they KNOW they’re doing wrong…they don’t sneak off to the party as easily as they get up and go pee in the middle of the night…it TROUBLES them from the moment they begin to consider it…and it’s on their mind the entire time they’re at the party…and it’s on their mind afterwards and it is there in their minds between them and their parents as they wait to see if they’ve been caught…and even if they don’t get caught they feel “shame” that they did it…

So, I don’t think sin is ever easily slipped into…
And, I don’t think children can do it…

I think that “today” that no one is holding a gun to our heads and FORCING us to sin…and actually that’d be impossible anyway no one could force us…’cause if someone put a knife in my hand and then forced my hand to stab someone no court of law would convict ME ’cause it wouldn’t have been me…

I think we have neuro-pathways that are like ruts…
I think we have PRIDE…
And, I think we have ignorance…

That’s one reason I think this whole original sin doctrine is super evil because of what Henry Wright teaches in his book, “A More Excellent Way to be in Health”. Our bodies CRY OUT AGAINST US when we even just consider sinning and when we commit sin…but we don’t hear it and we don’t know how to respond to it…

SIN nailed Jesus to the cross…it’s like THAT serious…

And yet, mankind continues to act like Adam, “What? It was that woman YOU gave me…SHE gave it to me! It’s her fault and your fault, God!” Except now we say, “It’s this BODY YOU GAVE ME GOD…it can’t HELP but sin! It’s sinful from the time I was conceived! It’s not REALLY my fault!!!”

Then, we make light of sin by saying that little 6 month olds who keep trying to crawl up the stairs after we tell them “no” are “sinning”…it totally makes SIN a light affair that is not a big deal…

I think pictures of Holocaust victims are hard to look at…but, I think that had I been present at the crucifixion to see Jesus hanging there naked with His dingy there shamefully exposed and likely stained with His blood…to see His beard torn out and His face so swollen He was unrecognizable…to see His body writhing in pain and oozing blood everywhere and to hear Him rasping for breath as He was dying…I think that it’s no wonder that Jesus cried out, “My God why have you forsaken me” ’cause God couldn’t even look at that or He was going to put a stop to the whole thing!

And, THAT is how hideous, awful, and serious SIN is…

A 6 month old disobeying is sometimes a reason to laugh. We think it’s cute BUT annoying. A 2 year old temper tantrum can even make us laugh. BUT you’re never going to look at a 13 year old girl making choices that lead her to getting drunk and losing her virginity at a party as “cute”…or even “annoying”…SIN is heartbreaking and sad and DIFFICULT to look at!!

That’s what I think about that!!!
